
The faculty of Engineering of the King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) originated from “The Telecommunication Training Center Nondhaburi” which was established on the August, 24th 1960 by virtue of the technical cooperation between the Government of Thailand and the Government of Japan under the Columbo Plan.
In 1974, it was relocated to the Ladkrabang District of Bangkok on a site of 160 hectare, donated by the heiress of Chaopraya Suriyawongwaiyawat (Worn Boon-nak or Chaokhun Thanan) and renamed “King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang Campus”
The most memorized event of the Faculty was on the June’ 16th 1976, when His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit officially opened the Ladkrabang Campus and the first Exhibition of the institute, this was the first time for the Faculty to showcase its academic researches to the public.
With the Academic Cooperation between KMITL and the Government of Japan, an increasing number of new departments were established with full-equipped laboratories to effectively produce professional engineering graduates who can serve the requirements in various fields of Engineering.
The first Doctoral Engineering Course in Thailand was conducted in 1982 in the field of Electrical Engineering.
In 1985, the Institute was renamed “King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL)”
Currently, the Faculty of Engineering, comprises 10 departments with 17 Bachelor Degree Programs, 15 Master Degree programs and 4 Doctor of Philosophy Programs, is the largest Engineering School in Thailand and well recognized in Educational societies nationally and internationally by virtue of our educational structure, lecturing pattern and research framework.
With the solid foundation that we have built, the sustainability of the programs assured and the fully efforts and contributions from our staff members, we aim to be the institutional leader in the field of Engineering towards an international standard.
